I was testing the subscribe feature of our website, and entered my e-mail address. When the Submit button takes me to the buzzcast subscribe page I entered my e-mail address and my password (which was the password I use to manage my buzzcast account.)

It would not allow me to subscribe. It said it was locked out. (It isn't locked out, as under the account management I could log in.)

I didn't try a different password for fear that it might lock me out of my account.

I did go ahead and subscribe with one of my other e-mail accounts, which worked, but I don't see a way to subscribe under the same e-mail as which I manage my own buzzcast account.

What is the proper way for me to subscribe to my own buzzcast list? (Or those of other people for that matter.) Thanks!

James

Lots more questions will be following I suspect. This looks quite useful, but there are quite a few bugs which really need to be worked out. (Such as generate text from the HTML post drops all the carriage returns and runs all the text together, and the inability to unbold text in the HTML that has been bolded. I had to cut and paste out of the HTML screen into Notepad and then back to remove the formatting.)

We don't make this terribly clear on the site, but it makes sense in light of our security architechture.

You don't need to subscribe to your own list, because you'll automatically receive a copy of all sent messages from your account.

You can have a subscriber account, and it can have the same email address, but it has to have a different password.

> generate text from the HTML post drops all the carriage returns and runs all the text together

It all depends on how the HTML is formed. Generally we've had pretty good luck with this feature. Are you using a mac or pc??

>inability to unbold text in the HTML that has been bolded

Again, this has worked well for us... its just a matter of reselecting the text and clicking bold button again. If there are other tags in between, it won't work, so you may have to do it line by line if you've added <p>s, colors, etc.

Hope this helps,

Dan

OK, the first makes sense, but should be documented somewhere.

I'm using a PC, with WinXP and IE6.

For the HTML to text, I just cut from a website announcement, not the code, just the text words, and pasted it into the campaign box. (I see the problem now, the title of the campaign was generated automatically as an H2 not bold. mark that up as a duh on my part.)

I didn't write the HTML, it was generated by the campaign template, and for the bold, when I tried to unbold it it didn't work. I hadn't added any other tags since I was trying to keep it simple.

Not a big deal since I could cut it out entirely. I did use the correct steps, highlight then click bold again.

One other thing - when going to the subscribe page it would be good to have the name of the list you are subscribing to appear. I put in notice on the site that the submit button takes you to the third party vendor web site that we use to manage the mailing list, but no doubt this will confuse our non-tech savy people.

Last item - we work as a team here, how do I have multiple users have the ability to send e-mails through the buzzcast account?

you are correct... this is one area of the system we are making vast improvments in.

>how do I have multiple users

Select "Account" from the main nav...You will see a left hand link to "Users".. click there and proceed.... you will be able to set up multiple accounts....

Good luck! We'll be launching some new pages and copy soon that should make a lot of the buzzcast processes simpler for the non-tech-savvy.

I know things are new but I would like to see more simple instructions, for example in the area entering the campaign, the option to put text with the HTML is not clear. I sent about 5 test campaign's before I realized what I was doing wrong.

I would also like to see confirmations to subscribers more clear as well. I notice when subscribing under a different username/password for my own list that when I clicked on link to verify that I subscribed, there was nothing really to indicate what list I was subscribing too, and although I setup a survey I wanted subscribers to take before being subscribed, there was no instructions to do so. I did create a message regarding the survey as well. I also completed the survey but it still did not change from status "not taken" to taken.

I'd also like to see those of us who pay for the service to be able to see our subscribers. I want to know who's signing up.

Thanks for listening.
