Hi! I've never used a "list manager" service before, so excuse me if the questions seem silly. smile
I've just registered for a trial account. My current database has about 370 users in it. What I want is to send a weekly bulletin to everyone, which was included in the terms and conditions for sign up. All users were provided an e-mail address for this matter. Now, the questions.
1. Why is the user list unavailable once it has been created? After all they are "my" users.
2. Are you going to use my list to send promo's and other stuff to the users?
3. What is Ignore subscriber replies?
4. The difference between a public and private list is...?
5. What is Add campaigns to a public archive?
6. You sent me an e-mail containig a code to place in my pages so users can subscribe. When a user enters his e-mail address in the form, where are they directed to? Can they "stay" in my site? Can I customize whatever information is required? This is mainly because my content is in Spanish and I would like to offer this service in Spanish.
7. After a campaign, assuming that is the name for a single "mailing", is created, is the content of the e-mail still my property?
8. Do you read or edit messages before they are sent?
9.Can I copy the e-mail addresses from my database in CSV format and paste them for my first list?
10. When a users registers at my site, can I include an option to join "the list" in the same registration form?
11. If a message recipient hits "reply to all", will everyone receive such message?
12. I currently own a license for UBB. Is there a special offer for UBB Licensees? Come on, we allready paid good money, give us a break. wink

Well, this is it, for now. As I use the list manager other questions will arise.

Thanks.

Wow! First of all, thanks for delving in and giving it a try! I'll answer the ones I'm positive about and then get additional clarification for the questions that are a bit tougher:

1. Why is the user list unavailable once it has been created? After all they are "my" users.

Are you asking about access to the contents of the list itself? Yes, they are your users, but buzzcast is designed to allow your users the security of being able to opt out of a list knowing that they cannot be added back in. The fact that the list is invisible to you is an insurance to your members that this is the case. That said, if you ever needed a dump of one of your lists for some reason, you can certainly contact us and request it. That information belongs to you and you alone.

2. Are you going to use my list to send promo's and other stuff to the users?

Absolutely not. Never. No way. Uh uh.

3. What is Ignore subscriber replies?

If you do not wish to see responses to your email (can't think of an exact scenario, but it might exist), you can have replies sent "into the ether".

4. The difference between a public and private list is...?

A public list is available for your members to search in the archives (see response to next question). A private list is not available for that.

5. What is Add campaigns to a public archive?

buzzcast will let you create a publicly accessible listing of all of your emails. That means your members can enter your buzzcast area (if you go to www.buzzcast.com you'll see a subscriber login) and view past emails you have sent.

This one I might need assistance in answering...I'll make sure someone pops in here to clarify... I believe that when you add that code to your site and someone uses it to subscribe, they stay in your site. You can definitely translate the subscribe/unsubscribe information---in your control area there is a page that gives you access to the code (and you can create your own HTML based on it as well).

7. After a campaign, assuming that is the name for a single "mailing", is created, is the content of the e-mail still my property?

Absolutely. Yes.

8. Do you read or edit messages before they are sent?

Absolutely not.

9.Can I copy the e-mail addresses from my database in CSV format and paste them for my first list?

Sure! In the area where you create your list, you can select the format, choosing from comma delimited and other formats.

10. When a users registers at my site, can I include an option to join "the list" in the same registration form?

This one I need to get you a technical answer on...stay tuned please...

11. If a message recipient hits "reply to all", will everyone receive such message?

No.

12. I currently own a license for UBB. Is there a special offer for UBB Licensees? Come on, we allready paid good money, give us a break.

We do appreciate your past business! smile However, we do not have a special offer available.

Number 6.

I have put up a page to test this. You can find it located here.

It looks like when you click to submit the form you will be redirected to the buzzcast 'sign up' page to create or edit your account.

I would extrapoplate this to mean that for #10 the answer is "No" because they would not stay on the site and would be redirected. Perhaps a second registration form would be appropriate?

As an alternate you could take the email address as "opt-in" and then add it to your buzzcast campaign manager.

Bret:

Is it posible to "personalize" or customize the sign-up page so as to offer users the sense thay are subscribing to my site's list and not just a buzzcast list? The only difference would be the url the form is redirected to. I think this might help.

"As an alternate you could take the email address as "opt-in" and then add it to your buzzcast campaign manager." This is the way it's going to happen with users that register at my site. But, I was "looking" to add the unregistered users to the list. Also, I am aware that many of my users do not check their e-mail account @embelecos.com. Signing up would give them the option of receiving the bulletin at an alternative e-mail address.

In many ways, knowing that you are signing up for a buzzcast list gives users the peace of mind that someone is watching over their lists, and that someone's specialty is watching over lists and taking care of them, securing them and ensuring privacy.

not sure if I understand the second part of the question, but you can import your existing list transparently. If you have a current list, they would never know that they were moved over to buzzcast.

Hi All,

Your feedback is awesome! I created a good portion of the UI and am really glad to have your feedback. There are several questions you have that directly hit on areas where I was thinking there could be an opportunity to clarify.

So, I will be taking your feedback and we'll be tweaking again.

Anything in the interface, the instructions, steps that you find challenging or even good as well, please keep 'em coming smile

The trial period is too short to evaluate the service. So if I subscribe to buzzcast, for howw long will I be "attached" to paying your fee? Is it on a monthly basis or what?

But buzzcast is a new service so, how many people, other than us infopop "groupies", know about it? Users will get "peace of mind" for services that they know about. This might happen after a year or so, but not at the moment. Another thing you could do is add some text to the login page for new users where the service is explained to them, so they "get the peace of mind that someone is watching over their lists" cool

I hope this helps...it's an extract from the terms of service for paying customers:

"You must provide Infopop with a thirty (30) day notice of cancellation in email form. The email must state the account name, date and reason for cancellation and be sent to cancel@infopop.com. If Infopop does not receive written notification of cancellation or client does not receive emailed acknowledgement of cancellation, the client is responsible for each billing period until such written notice is given. Infopop reserves the right to collect fees, surcharges or costs incurred before you cancel your buzzcast™ account. Note that Infopop does not guarantee retention of the data in a deactivated account beyond thirty (30) days.

In the event that your account is terminated or canceled, no refund will be granted. Any delinquent or unpaid accounts must be concluded before you may re-register with Infopop."

Regarding your other suggestion, thanks for that insight! We certainly could add more info that lets the subscribers know about how buzzcast works...

have a great weekend!

Rosemary

I think that I understand, correct me if I am not - okay?

What you would like to do with your Buzzcast sign up page is to make it look like the rest of your website so that your users don't think that we have 'absconded with them' to another site smile

How did I do? That makes perfect sense if I am correct and that is what you are asking. Let me ask Dan and the team what can be done about that. I can see some flexibility in there as long as we can make it clear that they can unsubscribe any time they like. smile

When you say "Add the unregistered users to the list", to whom are you referring? Casual visitors to your site?

YES!!!! big grin

When you say "Add the unregistered users to the list", to whom are you referring? Casual visitors to your site? YES. Let me explain. Someone visits my portal thru a link at another site. Maybe they like what they see (I sure hope so) but are not willing to register at the moment. If I can get their e-mail address, messages sent to this visitor might convince him/her to register.

Hey Brett, you did pretty good! Yes, you do understand! wink
