Like most people, I have a homepage which links to the message board. Is there any way of moving the log-in prompt onto my homepage, and leaving the message board where it is?

Yes -- simply logout and then go to any page you want to be the 'destination page'. Click login to get a login window and then copy the HTML source between the form tags. Do a little tweaking of the code there to make it look like your site and you'll be away.
