I'm in the process of developing my site, and am looking to integrate some sort of community blogging software (article publishing software) into my site. (I know groupee is working on development of something similar, but I need something now to get started.)

I'm looking at Six Apart's Moveable Type... anyone have any experience with that? If you're using blogging software on Groupee, what are you using, and how is it working out?

I use blogger. I like blogger because it is very low maintenance and with a little help you can get the blog to look like the rest fo your site or your site to look like your blog.

I chose groupee because they keep up with the security patches and stuff. I don't have to sweat out the hours left at work as soon as I find out that their is a new patch out for phpbb and boards are getting hacked left and right anymore. I have slept better since moving to groupee.

Blogger does not require that you have to keep up with a bunch of security stuff either, and it is posted to your server.

Right now I have a blog running as an informational type blog for my newest site. Blogs get picked up quick by the search engines and I use it to gain focus to other parts of my site.

I am thinking of offering my members to have their blogger accounts hosted on my domain. That means that they can move their whole blog with the click of a button to my domain. That could be many months / years worth of info. I guess the catch is that I have more bandwidth and disk space on my regular hosts server than I will ever use in my whole life, so adding the blog content is not going to urt anything.

Check out blogger and try it on your site. You can always delete it. It does not have a lot of the bells and whistles as typepad or the other stuff, but you don't have to worry about getting hacked and losing all your users posts. That could make for some pissed off bloggers.
