Because "it's too hard to go back and forth between rooms"

So people don't feel ignored.

- Drumroll with a cymbal at the end
- Entrance Sound
- Exit Sound

I agree with all of your suggestions except the whisper feature.

Remember that the old chat had whisper, as opposed to the new separate tabs, and a good number of people found it unintuitive.

Maybe, instead, we should address why they think its too hard to go back and forth between rooms?

Personally I didn't like whispers. They were hard to use and prone to error. If you clicked a name to see a user's profile, then forgot to unclick their name you could accidentally whisper to them (awkward).

I'm hopeful that our more vocal users will just get used to the private rooms. The private rooms are definitely a great improvement.

One more thing if I may... way back a long long time ago when we used another service, not Groupee, we had a chat room and the thing we liked most about it was an "@" button... it was next to each persons name in the chat room... say there were 50 people in the room and things were moving along pretty fast; say I wanted to say something to Ted but things were going so fast that everything got all messed up and nobody could tell what message went to who... what you would do is click the @ button and it would insert the text "@ (username)" (so in the example it would say @ Ted O'Neill) into the text area. Then you would just continue to type your message, thus when you hit enter, everyone knows who the message is directed towards

Now I like the @ idea also! Good idea!!

any chance of letting us customize the chat skins in the near future?

none of the current skins go with my site colors.
