Looking at studioforums.com's forums page, I think the thing posted above might actually be a mock-up of what dotspace wants, rather than a screenshot:
Yes, that's a Photoshopped version of what would integrate Chime with the forums.
The biggest problem on all types of forums everywhere is that there is no readily visible place to indicate if there's even anyone in chat - or how many - on the main forums page. Occasionally I have seen in various forums where someone will start a topic that they're in chat. But that's like having to start a fire from scratch every time you want to cook something.
As it is - we never use Chime - even though I pay for it to sit there every month. Forums are asychronious, but chat is real time. People have no way of knowing if anyone's in chat unless the actually look on a completely different page. And if they see no one's there - they leave.
Eve already has it all right there. There is already a place that will indicate how many users are in chat. That's some progress, but it's far short of what it could really be. I don't see that it could be that much trouble to program it so that Chime could show up on the main forums' page. That would let anyone who's on the main page know instantly whether or not there was anyone in the chat room on their forums.

I second the recommendation! We have a thread that we keep at the top of a forum where people post when they want to chat. We could be doing a lot more chatting if the chat rooms showed up on the main forums page.

Bump2 My forum is riddled with threads trying to lure people into chat. NO ONE want's to click the chat room link to see how many people are actually in chat, if any. My chat is used every night, but only by a few die hard willing to keep checking. I would get tuns more use with this option.
I love the idea of this thread. It would make the money spent on the hosting far more worth it too me, as it would increase Chat activity a great deal for the same reasons already mentioned.
However, the forum administrators seem to be ignoring this thread. Or is it that you ignore BUMPS? In either case, the lack of any response, even a simple "no, we cannot do that for that price" would be better than the fact that as it stands none of you have responded to this since JULY of 2006!
What the hey? Guys, ignoring posts like this doesn't exactly engender love and appreciation from your users. Instead it's the sort of thing that makes one ponder the pros and cons of spending our hosting dollars elsewhere.
But I don't want to do that. Eve has everything I need, and our site loves its home here. I just wish you guys were more responsive, even if the answer is a kind "no."
