On our board, we have a hidden forum. All of my members on the forum get notification of postings. The hidden forum can only be accessed by a power group. Do the other members receive notifications on postings from the hidden forum? Obviously, I do not want the members that are not on the power group to receive notifications on that particular forum, b/c the items on that forum are private.
In order to get the notifications, the member must subscribe in the forum. Therefore, if they don't have the permission to access the forum, they will not get a notification to any content in that forum.

Thank you Lori, but that is confusing to me. When I check notifications for a particular user it says "All Forums." What I am trying to do is hide a forum for everyone, but one power group. I do not want the other members to see what is happening on that particular forum. It seems there is a hole somewhere, that I can not limit the notifications to members to only certain forums. If there is an easier way to accomplish my ultimate objective, please let me know, b/c as I say, I am confused.
Even though a user's subscription says "All Forums", it really means "All forums that the user has access to". Thus, in the case where you have a private forum (protected by permissions), users will not be able to receive notifications for that forum.
Note that simply making the forum hidden will not suffice. You need to make sure that you have set the permissions accordingly so that only the selected power group can access the forum. In that case, you do not need to worry about members outside of the power group getting notifications of posts in that forum.
Does that help?
