I want to create a monthly newsletter. Does anyone know of a good site that has this info on how to do this easily kind of like “newsletters in a can”-type site?

http://www.constantcontact.com is what I ue. It is cheap and you can send out as many per month as you want..plus you can schedule newsletters to go out at specific times, like doing a daily newsletter, but writing them one month in advance.

We are currently using the mass email function of groupee but it really is a headache because it has no bounce management at all.

We are looking into some alternatives. Our monthly newsletter does increase our forum traffic. Usually the day we send out the newsletter is our busiest forum day of the month.

I'm looking into a PHP-based email newsletter system called phplist. It does appear to have a slight learning curve but nothing too drastic. And it's free!

Question for Groupee--shouldn't we be able to export our community members email addressses into something like phplist to create an opt-in newsletter distribution list (which has more functionality than the mass email function of Groupee)?

You can export email addresses of users by going to:
Members > Member Management
Search for and select the members you want to email, then from the drop down choose "View Selected As Mailing List" and hit Submit.

It will take you to a page that just lists the emails separated by semi-colons (which any mailing list system should be able to import). Just copy and paste.
