I posted this over at Evedev already, sorry if this is considered cross-posting...

But for those of you who don't go over there, I've written a weblog module for Eve. I saw several requests for this in various threads, so I just wrote it myself. To keep things nice and easy and not spread out all over everywhere, I'd sort of appreciate it if you'd post any problems/suggestions in the thread that already exists at Evedev.

Program demo/download are located at: http://se7enet.com/evejournal

Good job, Jamin!

I'm excited to see people creating their own Eve modules, taking advantage of the API. Additions like this help make Eve the community software we are working towards.

Will it be possible to add links to mods like this in the myspace menu and Go menu?

Not at this time, unless you're on a dedicated server and want to customize Eve's XSL. For us normal folk, Infopop doesn't let us add our own stuff to those menus, unless something's changed that I don't know about.

(Psst... Infopop... it'd be really nice... Wink)

Malazan & Jamin-

We plan to release much more comprehensive APIs down the road that will be designed to allow developers to fully integrate applications into eve (including integration of permissions).

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be very much action in the evedev.com forums so thought would also try posting here. We have set up a blog at www.dancescape.com/blog ... however, having problems with integrating Calendar as well as other issues ...

-------------------

Hi again,
Tried to post in evedev.com but doesn't seem to be anyone who uses it. Could you please advise ...

In the Admin Control Panel, the Calendar option is activated. Yet, on the Blog (http://www.dancescape.com/evejournal), there is no Calendar appearing.

We have the Calendar script already installed on our forums at http://dancescape.com/mydancefriends. However, can't determine how we insert this Calendar script into the area that is specified in the Blog.

ANOTHER QUESTION: Administrative Options
Create a New Journal

-- What does this do? For example, we want now to change the colours of the various fields, but in the eveJournal Settings, there are no colour fields to change. Is there where we do it, and does it then wipe out the current settings, or just creates another template/library.

Thanks for your help!

Here is another question. If members want their Blog "private", is there a way that they could set this so that it doesn't show in the public directory?

Hi again,
Tried everything, including putting the <iframe> </iframe> calendar code, but got error message.

Would you have any online instructions about inserting this?

Thanks.

I can't answer your questions, as I am not familiar with eveJournal. I think the only person who can give you the answers you're looking for is Jamin - the developer who wrote the software.

There are people who frequent evedev and answer questions when they can, but you cannot expect the same quick turnaround that you get with Infopop. A lot of us have plenty of other things that occupy our time.

Just an FYI.

First answer: The calendar option in the control panel is, at the moment, only a placeholder. I haven't gotten around to integrating calendar and shoutbox into eJ yet. The only way to implement the calendar into your eJ installation would be to add the iframe code into the Body Open or Body Close fields of your global or journal settings. Sounds like you already tried that, though, so I'd be interested to know exactly what error message you're getting from it.

Second answer: Create A New Journal does exactly that: it creates a new journal. It's essentially the exact same thing that the users would get if they clicked the Register link from the main journal page. To change colors for your journal, you need to click the "My Journal Settings" link in the first box in the control panel.

Third answer: Private journals are a feature I plan on having, but haven't gotten around to including yet. Expect it in the next version (though I honestly have no idea exactly how long it will be before I am able to work on it - my free time is extremely limited at the moment).
