Right now you can choose fields to be private or public. I would like to suggest that we also have another option; private for administrators. For example I keep track of when association fees are due through a field on the bulletin board. Right now members could change it if they wanted to because there is no way that I know of to prevent them from changing it.

How about using the admin notes section instead?

Interesting idea, but I am not sure what it would gain you over the admin notes section.

The problem is that you cannot search notes. For example if I wanted to list everyone whose fees are due at the 'AGM 2004' so that I can send them a reminder notice by email, I couldn't do it if I only put the info in notes. Am I right about this?

You are correct, unless you want to search in the database itself. I will add this to our internal list of feature suggestions.
