I was billed heavily this month for overage fees. I'm using too much disk space. I'd like to go into all of the images in the "evefiles" directory and reduce the images, but it's nested in a way that it's very hard to do so.

Any tips to reduce these large files that have been uploaded to the server?

So that means "No" I guess?

I see the avatar manager... but that's not my problem.

Sorry. Avatars are in the evefiles directory and since you didn't specify what type of images you were referring to, I didn't know.

I hope to modify the Avatar Manager eventually to serve the same purpose for photo albums, but that likely wont be until the fall.

Question here, if you moved all of your eve images, I mean ALL of them to another server (non Infopop) would that save bandwidth?

I mean, I know it might not be the best idea since if that server went down or what not the images would be gone, just wondering if it would work and if it was a good idea Smile

I wish uploaded files could be stored on my own server.

Provided that the Groupee Community application would be able to ftp to the server it seems like that would be possible. I would suggest putting in a ticket if you are serious about using your own server as the FTP source for your Groupee Community.

Not really, the bandwidth is still going to come from somewhere and needs to be paid for.

By introducing another server to your mix you do slightly DEcrease your overall reliability. If any of the servers is down in your composiste pages, then the pages themselves are unavailable.

It's wise to make avatars a privilege rather than a right. Have you considered making it a perk of long time community membership? 100+ karma points?

You also should keep an eye on what people are uploading. There seems to be an increase in the number of people who figure that they can upload 1.2 megapixel files from their digital camera. Recent Groupee upgrades prevent this but old images will still be there eating your bandwidth.
