As the groupee login page is used for two different features, Creating an account and logging in, I am curious if there is a way for me to hyperlink to the groupee/login page and have the radio button already in the right location (dependant on my hyperlink of course) to make it less confusing for our visitors.
I am thinking something along the lines of the way you can make a mailto hyperlink fill out the subject of the email as well as the body. All want to do is fill out the radio button in the right spot. Thanks for any help, Jay |

Hello Jay,
Unfortunately there is currently no way to accomplish what you would like to do. Though that is a very interesting and useful idea. Jonmark Weber Developer Groupee, Inc. |

Jonmark, It is just so difficult to register a new account and purchase a premium membership in the same session.
I’m sure the assumption is that most users will create an account and at some point purchase a membership in the future. <rant> This is an oversight for two reasons: 1. For the user who does not follow this assumed progression, there is difficulty in the premium membership process. The user has not yet become familiar with Groupee or the host site for that matter, and is not logged into their account when trying to purchase a premium membership. After work around and work around, we are finding that even with (somewhat) clear "big picture" (overview) instructions, the novice user with no Groupee or host site history under their belt cannot successfully purchase a premium membership. 2. Not all users are solely interested in the message board portion of a community. I know this may come as a shock to many over there at Groupee (on-line service based company), but not all community users are interested in on-line community offerings. We are noticing this, and are seeing a portion of members purchasing (or trying to unsuccessfully without needing intervention by us) a premium membership for what our community offers face to face with monthly meetings, networking, and workgroups. Our demographic is the 40+ through mid to late 60 year olds. *Sorry this is yet another thread that has turned into a rant about the inept process of registering, logging in to your newly created account (this step is left up to the user to read the minds of Groupee engineers), and then purchasing a premium membership. One of our many work arounds trying to address this issue breaks down each step with a hyperlink, but still leaves a radio button selection to the unfamiliar user. I want to eliminate this margin of error from our workaround of a serious shortfall of the Groupee registration process. There is a way to do this if this were our page. The part of the page that controls this is: <form> <input type="radio" checked="yes" name="this_is_a_div" onclick="hideElement('form_not_registered');showElement('form_registered');"> I have a Groupee Account<br> <input type="radio" name="this_is_a_div" onclick="hideElement('form_registered');showElement('form_not_registered');"> I do not have a Groupee Account form> As this is a global page, is it possible for Groupee to create a mirror page that would option the other radio button checked? This way all communities could utilize this option if they felt the need. |
