How do I keep posts from specific forums from listing on the "recent posts" content Island.
I am using a forum on a different webpage other than the main one that all the forums are on. So when people post to the "hidden" forum on the other webpage it shows on the main "recent posts" content island. How can I prevent some forums from posting to this content island?? |

Hmm... I thought that posts from hidden forums weren't supposed to show up in the content islands, but I'm not sure... Let me double check. The best way to prevent content from a forum from showing up in content islands is to add permissions to that forum preventing certain groups from viewing it.
The other way would be to edit the query used in your content island to include specifically each forum you wish to display results from. In the URL for the query, look for "&f=" (it's probably not there). If you don't see it, at the end of the query string, you can add it: &f= and then add the forum ID of each forum you wish to include. You can find the forum ID by visiting the forum, looking at the URL and locating the number that follows &f= Then, you can add the forum IDs of the forums you wish to include, separated by commas... for instance: &f=79710858463,56972858463,73569758425 Let me know what you think, and if you have further questions on the specifics of this! ****************** Kate Thaete Groupee Guide - Virtuoso Groupee, Inc. |

If I recall correctly, a hidden forum will still show in search results, it just wont be listed with the other forums on the categories and forums page.

quote: Nope cant do that... Here is why. People visting the forums that I have hidden will be accessing them from a different webpage. A subdomain I have set up on my forum. But they will not have to signup on my forum to view what I need to use the forums for. See example. It is a hockey team webpage. It is for the teams family to talk, see the schedule and post photos. But they are not part of the actual forum that the site is hosted on. http://leafs.youthhockeyforum.com quote: I can try this. Not quite sure on how this will work. The problem is I have 30 forums that I would like to show and 3 that I dont. Seems like I have to run a mile to go across the street so to speak... Sorry about posting with 2 different names.... |

I don't remember how we did it - but we took one forum out of our Recent Posts CI because it is a very active forum so it ends up being the only thing listed in the CI if we leave it there. Although, it has anyone can view rights.
