A handy feature I've started using is this :

It allows you to hold a sort of slashdot.org like discussion 'automagically' for news items or articles on your site. It works really well. I've been using it for two sections I have on my site. Its easy to add, just a link in the source that you plug in subject and other values when displaying the news list. The link above explains the syntax

Yeah, that is a really cool, and often overlooked feature.

I can think of lots of things to use it for. Particularly News and review type "article" based discussions to automate the discussion board site of a new article or news item.
