Eve's customization gives it many capabilities like a Facebook / MyYearBook.com site. I'm wondering if any others out there are using Eve for social networking. If so, I'm looking for tips on how to customize Eve for such. Specifically, I'm looking at the Members Directory. Is there any way for members to search the directory?

can't help you Tom, but I too would love to hear from those who customized the member profiles to make them richer and more powerful.

There currently isn't a way to search the members directory. It can only be sorted alphabeticaly, by highest karma, or by newest members.

The only way for users to search display names is through the author name in search, but that's going to return posts, not profiles.

We found the current membership directory of limited use for what we are hoping for, so I have some DB folks creating a searchable membership database for us using some fields in the existing registration profile and some new fields we have added for our own purposes. It's been a lot of work and it still needs some work, but we are testing it out now. We have set it up so the search results allow the person searching to PM someone who comes up in the search if they want to.
