Familiar with custumizing the Content Island...
But for Newest Member shown, on home page - how can set or customize the number of newest members shown on the home page?

If you are referring to the Newest Members box on the /groupee page, you can choose the # of members to display by going to Groupee Community > Master Settings > Basics tab. In the "Groupee Community Start Page" section, for "New Member Box" (assuming you have it checked) you'll see a field where you can specify how many members to display, up to 20.

MK06, not sure if it is just the browser I am on, but your page seems to not render correctly.

It looks as though you designed the page in MS word and just slid the graphics and text around to where you wanted them.

I am not trying to put down your page, because I always enjoy looking to see what others have done with groupee, but I figured I would pass o the info just incase you don't see it on your end.

It may be my browser because I am using IE.

I am going to try to attach a cropped portion of the top, but it looks like you have some red and blue lines at the bottom that are slid way off the page.

I see the same thing. It looks only slightly better in FireFox.

Are you using frames? If so, you should know that we do not recommend it, because they can interfere with cookies, which affects the functionality of the software.

Is there any way for me to be able to do the same sort of design with out having to use a frame?

I usually charge $1,000,000 an hour for my consultation, but if you send me a private message I will help you design your site without frames.

Just kiddin about the $1,000,000 dollars. I only charge $750,000 Smile

Also, I just made a screen shot using the "prt sc" function on my computer. For me I just hold down the "FN" button and the "PRT SC" button at the same time and then you can open up "Paint" and paste it in or paste it into MS Word, Powerpoint, Frontpage...

Ok, I am attaching a text file that you can open in a program like MS Frontpage and just change the colored in areas. Look at the HTML and follow the direction in the HTML. There are only two different "chunks" that you have to paste into your groupee control panel.

I use a code close to this for the site http://community.usmrc.org and it looks OK.

You may need to mess with your background colors and stuff, but it should not take you long to figure out what needs to be done.

you could combine the community with something like the http://www.my-genesis.com/ product which allows you to have people maintain their own webpages. You can set up a template like a 5 page site and it used forms to fill in the information.

One downfll that I see using groupee as a social networking software is that it is hard to pass their profile page onto others. I mean, who is going to say "yea, I got a page at http://www.thehookupsoialnetwork.com/groupe/myspace/dsldmgflgldfglfdgdfg or whatever.

At least with the pages they could have something like my.thehookupsocialnetwork.com/username or something like that.

Just a thought.

Groupee is super easy to use and maintain (since groupee does the backend stuff) so you should enjoy using the product.

I am not able to see the Newest Member Check Box. I went to Community > Master Settings > Basics tab and it isn't in there.

What am I doing wrong now? Confused

That option requires the "Default Start Page" to be set to "Eve Home Page"; yours is likely set to "Forum Home Page."

Oh, ah... I see, said the blind man.

I've been playing around with my site and these forums are the best source of info. I like looking at some of the others members sites too. You can see some neat stuff in action.

The search feature is my "best friend" when I come here. The answer boards are a close second. Again Steve, thanks for your help.
