Anyone care to share how you've customized your eve...? Big things, little things, whatever... if YOU did it, mebbe someone else wants to do something similar, ya' know? Smile

Here's one of mine...

What's in YOUR 'Registered To Access' field?

It was only after clicking through to a few other eve sites did I realize that when Lurkers (called Guests in eve, I think) try to do something on my BB, they get a message along the lines of (emphasis mine):
quote:

This action requires the 'General Eve Access' permission. If you are a registered member, please log in. Otherwise, you'll need to register.
I didn't like that notice... it was a lil' too vanilla pudding generic for me ya' know?

So, by changing three wordlets, my Lurkers ~~okay, I also changed 'Guest' to 'Lurker' but that's a different customization Wink~~ get the following message:
quote:
Sorry, but you need to be a '%ARG1%' to do this. If you are a registered Aantares Member, please login below, else please register... it's free & easy.
The three wordlets to edit are:
  • TXT_MUST_BE_REGISTERED_TO_ACCESS_PERM_ARG1... where I entered Sorry, but you need to be a '%ARG1%' to do this. If you are a registered Aantares Member, please login below, else please register... it's free & easy.

  • TXT_MUST_BE_REGISTERED_TO_DO_ARG1... where I entered Sorry... you must be a registered Aantares Member to %ARG1%. If you are a registered Aantares Member, please login below, else please register... it's free & easy.

  • RIGHT_NAME_PERM_PLATFORM_1007... where I entered Registered Aantares Member.

So... what tweaks & twerks have YOU applied to YOUR eve?

I'm working on several things, but one that interested you was changing the look of the UBBCode quote and code text.

Aantares- thanks for starting this topic! It is great to see how users are customizing eve.. and I look forward to seeing your ideas. In fact... this has inspired me to create a new forum here.

Steven's new site (see the link in his post above), will also be a good source, I am sure.

Well, how nice is that? Thanks, Ted!

And yes, Steve's site is way kewl. I wasn't the first to register there, but I'm pretty sure I'm amongst the plankowners. Wink

I've already absconded with some code --with Steve's permission, mind you-- and I'm REALLY looking forward to the sharing of bunches of other tweaks & twerks with my fellow Infopop'rs. Smile

Keep in mind that the longer-term plan with eve is to release APIs that will allow developers to completely integrate other applications into eve. That's when things will get realy exciting in terms of customization. Smile

Get to sharpening Ron. Wink

I've got a lot of cool stuff in mind for evedev.com. I hope to see a lot of the familiar faces from here over there soon. All eve customers are welcome. Smile

carjocky: That code goes in your style set, under Custom HTML, in the box labeled 'Insert into HEAD Tag'.

Car...

CSS = cascading style sheet.

A style sheet is made up of style rules that tell a browser how to present a document.

For a down 'n dirty on CSS, check out WDG's Cascading Style Sheets.
