Hi everyone, the current content describing eve on our website is not the best. While we are in the process of improving this, I thought it would be good to get input from all of you.

What is the most compelling thing about eve, in your opinion?

If you had one sentence to describe what you get, what would that be?

What are the top 5 things about eve?

There are so many different aspects to eve, I'm curious to hear your own takes on what it is that you think are the most compelling. What you say could directly impact the content on our website. Smile

Feel free to post here or send me a private message. Any feedback here is appreciated, but please stay on topic. Negative posts will be removed... I'm looking for honest advice/opinions.

Thanks!

Extensibility at all tiers.

Shared-server customers have database access and the SimpleAuth API allowing them to extend the platform (see Jamin's shoutbox @ evedev.com). Dedicated-server customers can use OneCommunity to tie into any membership database and/or XSL to make their forums look completely different.

Eve to me is like an application server. It is in its early stages but the possibilities seem endless. With the API being updated it will be extensible with modules coming from Infopop as well as 3rd party developers. Some comparisons could be made to other products like Zope & Cold Fusion if you consider the whole Infopop hosting package. Granted the builtin design features aren't as controllable but that could also come down the road.

So, to answer the 3 questions :

1. Most Compelling Thing : The Possiblities
2. What you get : User database with various modules for sharing discussion (static/live), files (text/graphic), MySQL database and a builtin subscription service with more to come.
3. Top 5 things : MySQL Database, Thrive Subscription Service, UBB.x, Content Island Idea (RSS/XML in the future - hopefully), Endless possiblities

Thanks Infopop!

My top five list:
  1. Member management
  2. Thrive
  3. Extensibility (i.e. modules)
  4. Member management Big Grin
  5. Friendly and helpful support

I see that other people are also talking about Eve's extensibility. IMO, this is the feature that will make Eve truly great in the future. However, it seems kind of hard to express those possibilities at the moment, since there aren't that many modules available. But I know that'll come in the future. Smile

Effortless access to all admin functions.

The old system had bizarre go here then go there to do simple things like change smilies, forum graphics etc.

I find Eve so effortless to change anything on my forums I feel she is here taking my dictation and following through perfectly.

The flowchart of the Eve administrator control panel options is what I would focus on, whoever Eve is I love her for her simplicity and expedience! Hula

The extremely professional and state-of-the-art look and feel (for users and admins) is the second selling-point I would mention.

Super-efficient security built in would be my next suggestion.

Easy and fun customizability would be next.

Now that I've shared these, aww, come on, give us the feature of saving the site onto CD pleeease? Thanks, I know you will do what you can.

Wishing you all continued success with your great products and services.

Sincerely,
Teo Barry Vincent

Hi guys

Regarding the possibilities, is there any sites out there that have really taken advantage of this via EVE or a third party developer. If so I would love to take a look!

Thanks,

The untiting of peoples and their collective voices, preformed simply via a sophisticated software, powerful enough to get the job done, yet simple enough for the most inexperienced internet newcomer to use.

I think the "Instant Topic" feature also worth to let more people know. This feature I think is unique to UBB and I think is actually a useful tools when Eve integrate with a website.
