For our next release, 1.2.19, we will be significantly enhancing eve's photo album features. We'll be using the same Flash component that we use for our Groupee social network. See a screenshot below.



Some of the features include: full screen mode, expandable thumbnail drawer, detach photo, control play speed, control thumbnail size.

Having seen the new album app on groupee.com, I'm eager to see it reach Eve.

This is great and all...but what about the blogging?

I was so excited when I saw that a new release was coming - only to be severely disappointed when it was just a photo album.

We want blogging/articles!!!

According to Lori, blogging is in the works.

In the mean time, have you tried http://www.groupee.com?

I notice errors with the new photo albums. It will say that there are quota issues, and also that the feature is not available, please try back later. SOmetimes they thumbnails to do not bring up the full image when clicked on, and some albums load up slow. You may want to fix these issues.

We too are experiencing photo issues. We are unable to detach the photo (I imagine this is a way to get the image saved from the original image resolution uploaded).

We used to be able to have the ability to save the images that were uploaded. We have now lost that ability with this system, mhich makes it a lot less appealing.

I like the look and feel, but only want to keep it if I'm able to have the ability to save images with the original resolution.

You can detach photos. Hover your mouse over the gear icon in the upper right corner and you will see a detach photo option.

Great to hear about the upgraded photo albums. Anything similar in the works for videos?

We are experiencing some issues with the photo albums as well.

Typically photos do not appear as they are uploaded - they are out of order.

Additionally, many albums are loading extremely slowly. This appears to happen with a larger number of photos, especially if they are high resolution. Loading time of the albums is less of a problem than the fact that computers seem to lockup and freeze.

Is there something that can be done to fix these issues?

Bill- you can re-order your photos in the "organize" section after you upload them. If that is not working proerply for you, please fill out a bug report for us at:

As for slow loading, lockups... one thing we will probably need to consider in the future is way to reduce the max file size that we display. That way, everything will load faster and there should be no lockup issues (which is likely because your browser is choking on the large files).

Just to follow-up on the photo ordering... it looks we have a known bug which we are fixing for a future release. Sometimes ther order numbers you provide will be off by one.

I have double checked the ordering of some of my photos and they DO appear as they are numbered. Apparently this has been fixed in version 1.2.20. Thank you

I would suggest rather than reducing the max file size allowed - that it could be programmed to automatically reduce the file size upon upload. This MAY be what you are saying anyway...but I thought I'd add my suggestion.

If we had to restrict file upload size, I could see a disaster for our non-computer savy users.

I am certain that if this was resolved, this would prevent browser/computer lockups.

How soon before you think something like this will be implemented?

While I'm on the topic of suggestions...is there any way that the thumbnail window can be expanded to see two rows at a time instead of one? I'm not sure what others think about this idea - but I think it might be helpful to be able to see more thumbnails on the screen without the need to scroll.

re: file size... that is exactly what I was trying to say. We would simply reduce the file AFTER it was uploaded.

I can't tell you when these changes will be added at this time, but both could be in our next official release. No due date/time frame yet available for that.

Re: thumbnail row... you already can expand it.

See the up and down arrows at the top of the thumbnail draw... just drag that up and the drawer will be expanded (assuming there are too many thumbnails to fit in one row, of course).

We have just allowed our first 'community album' to be opened and are concerned to find that unlike members personal albums additional images added by members to a community album escape the moderation facility which appears to be an almost open invitation for abuse.

Also, on attempting to edit the new community album we discovered that the images posted by individual members have changed their contributors name to that of the albums originator.

Have we missed something in the settings or is this how it is meant to work?

I followed your instructions and have successfully been able to expand the row of thumbnails. I have informed our members of this ability. That is excellent!

Please keep me/us posted on the changes that will reduce the file size on upload that will eliminate the browser from locking up. This appears to be one of the biggest complaints and many members are not even looking at photo albums because it locks up their computers.
