Morning all,
I'm just wondering if this have ever been implemented? We'd like to convert our log-in process to use Groupee but are hoping to avoid a manual transition. If this is around, where can I find information on how to use it? If not, any idea when? Thanks, |

Hey Kimmer,
Actually the Simple Conversion went out with the 1.2.10 release so its available. All you have to do is put in a support ticket and request to be put on the Groupee Network and we will take over from there. Here is Ted's post that explains what the Simple Conversion does: http://community.groupee.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/707...10728763#12810728763 Cheers, Jonmark Weber Developer Groupee Inc. |

Thanks Jonmark; sounds good. I guess technically though, do you just pull the needed info off everyone's profiles? And then the first time they log-in once we've converted, they'll have to agree to the TOS?

Hi Kimmer,
Yes, that is correct. The transition (in most cases) is quite seamless. We use the email address off of the user's profile, as well as the current password from the user's profile. There are a couple of scenarios that won't result in a completely seamless transition: - If a user does not have an email address on his/her profile (possible if you are using a username-based login system and do not require the email field), then a Groupee Network account can not be created for the user. The user will have to manually create a Groupee Network account and then manually associate that new Groupee Network account with his/her existing site profile by entering the username and password for the profile on your site. This linking process will only need to be done the first time during login. - Groupee Network requires passwords that are 6 characters or longer. If a user on your site has a password shorter than 6 characters, a new, random password will be created for the user and sent to the user via email. The user will be able to change this password by simply logging into account.groupee.com and updating the profile. - If your site requires email verification, each user will have to manually verify his/her email address with the Groupee Network prior to logging in. The confirmation email is sent to each user at the time of the switch to the Groupee Network, so you can probably just post a note about this on your site prior to the switch so that everyone confirms their email address prior to the switch. This will prevent any email confirmation errors during their initial login to your site under the Groupee Network. Finally, you are correct in that each user will have to agree to the Groupee Network TOS upon initial login. Once they have done this, they will be logged in to your site. I recently converted my family Groupee Community to the Groupee Network and the transition was very smooth! My cousins, aunts, uncles, and even grandparents all figured it out without a problem I hope this helps clarify things! Hi all,
I have some more questions for you regarding the service. 1) At what point in the process do we send you the graphics to modify the Groupee Login Screen so that it becomes apparent that it's Slowtalk via Groupee? 2) If a member has a "username" on our system which appears on all their posts when we do the mass conversion, does that become the "Display name" on the Groupee profile? What happens if a member already has a groupee account but has a username on our system, that differs from the display name on the groupee profile (i.e., can a person have different display names for the different boards which they access through groupee)? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that profiles are site specific but I just want to make sure. Thanks |

Hi Kimmer,
You actually don't have the option of adding graphics to the Groupee Login screen. The Groupee Network Login page will be styled with the colors of your site, but the existing Groupee layout (header/footer/graphics) will remain the same.
Groupee Network profiles do not currently have a display name. A Groupee profile is comprised of an email address and password only (at this time). The display name for a user on your site will remain the same for your users after the transition to Groupee, so you don't have to worry about the display names changing or any potential conflicts with display names. I see that your site is currently using a username-based login system, but email addresses are required (and must be verified). Thus, when switching to Groupee, every user with an email address (should be every user unless at some point in the past you didn't require email addresses) will have a Groupee account created or auto-linked for them. Then, since you require email verification, each user will receive an email from Groupee stating that they must confirm their email address with Groupee. The one exception to this will be the case where a user (such as yourself) already has a Groupee account for their email address and has already verified that email with Groupee. Does this make sense? I hope this helps clear things up for you a bit. Please let us know if you have any further questions Regards, Brian Lenz Groupee Inc. |

Yep, perfectly; For the log-in screen do you automatically pick up the style as part of the support ticket for the conversion or do we need to do something for that? I was looking at the Expat Login and saw how it said "Groupee Login for Expattalk" and the "Remember me..." line and was wondering what, if anything we need to do for that.

Nope, you don't need to do anything. It will automatically be handled for you. Your site name (based on your site's settings) will automatically be used in the title "Groupee Login for XX". Also, your default Groupee Community style (used on your portal page /groupee) will be used.

Okay - new issue. We have a member who's password was only five characters. However, she never received a new random password and when she clicks "Lost Password" the e-mail she receives still contains her old 5-character password. When she tries to login with this password, she receives the error message, login failed, please double-check your login credentials. |

Hmm, that sounds odd. Is she using the "Lost Password?" link from http://account.groupee.com ? If so, I would recommend you have her open a support ticket so that we can get her pertinent information (email address, password, etc.) and look into any problems with her specific account.
She can open the support ticket here: https://www.infopop.com/q/q.php?action=pool_query&num=43 Regards, Brian Lenz Groupee Inc. |
