Hey,

I am currently a Design Admin for a site that uses the Groupee Software but I had a curious question.

Me along with the owner feel that other forum softwares would provide us more of what we are looking for now that our forum is growing but from what I can tell groupee doesn't allow us to obtain our database to transfer to a new software if we decided to go that route. This would mean we would have to restart all over and have members re-register on a new software correct?

Why is this and is there a possibility to get that database if needed?

All plans, except Pioneer, allow phpMyAdmin access to your database. From there, you could dump your tables to SQL scripts and import them into a new database.

Well, I believe it should give me access then.

I have 2 databases. One for the main forum and another for a calendar.

When I do phpadmin all it lets me get to is the one for the cal and won't even show the main one.

If you have two databases you have to make two users. One for each database. Each database is unique as are the users for them. One cannot access the other. Kida quirky, but that is how DA works.

Oh ok,

I didn't set up the main database on this site.

So when I go to the phpadmin I need the username and password for the other database to access it vs using the username and password for the cal database.

Yes, each database is unique, the users are unique, the permisisons are unique. You can, via teh DirectAdmin interface, make users for each. that will grant you the access you need to create data dumps.
