One of our members is taking on new employment and wishes us to delete all several hundred of his messages posted to our forum, presumably because he doesn't wish his new employer to be able to see them.

Do we have to comply with his wishes? I'd hate to lose all that content. Surely when he voluntarily published the messages himself we don't have to delete them. I wouldn't mind if it was just a few messages but a whitewash like this would gut many topics

It's your call. You should check your site's TOS, but I assume you make it clear in your TOS that it's YOUR content, and this is up to you.

Would a change in Display Name do the trick for this user? Maybe it would be a bit more....anonymous.
