It started out as a Star Wars message board, with just one forum on the new Prequel films. But now its grown to cover a lot of different topics ranging from science to movies to telelvision and writing, and then more.

Looks good.

If you ever felt up to it, you may want to consider adding a few hacks to your board. The one that pops to mind first is the Stars hack which will add additional member status' too.

I've always been hesitant to hack my board. Is the stars hack entirely safe, is there any chance that it could screw something up?

I'd only agree to add a hack if I can be assured that.

And anyway I don't even use the junior member title, so I don't know what I'd use additional status' for.

Are there any other 100% safe hacks out there?

Most all the hacks that can be found in the hack database over at http://www.ubbdev.com are safe, or at least as safe as a perl script can be wink

The Stars Hack shouldn't create any security risks as it does not open any kind of input holes, it simply reads a user's # of posts when they post and displays the appropriate stars and member title.

Okay SW Fan, I took your advice.

I just added two hacks to my board, one being the Who's Online feature (which is REALLY cool).

I think almost every hack at ubbdev is safe if you install it right.

Now you're suggesting that people add hacks!!!

No, I think you are mistaken. I said that adding hacks for the sake of adding hacks was ludicrous. You had made a post saying another user should add any and all hacks, which I disagreed with. I went on to say that certain hacks simply made sense for certain sites, ie. the avatar hack is great for game-related sites, but bad for computer tech boards. In this user's case the Stars hack seemed to be a perfect fit based on the site content and the frequency of returning users.
