How do you deal with topics that are posted in the wrong forum?
In most cases I tend to just delete them because I hate having a bunch of locked topics taking up space in my forums. Julie The Swingers Board |

On my own community I'll close them and move them to the appropriate forum and then delete the closed copy with 48 hours. This gives the poster time to see their post has been moved and so they don't ask, "Where did my topic go."

Yes, I agree with Steven. I believe here, we move a copy, close the topic and post that it's been moved and provide the link. Then about 48 hours later we delete it.

That's what I usually do...move it to the right forum with a note saying why it was moved.
The reason I favor that technique is education---you want the person who posted it to not feel alienated, and you want them to see where it should have been posted (for next time). Of course, this policy doesn't apply to cross-postings. We delete those without mercy. _____________ Rosemary O'Neill Co-Founder, Infopop Corporation |
