Glad to see you're trying to start a UBB. But you really need to work on a color theme. Take a look at some of the sites posted in this forum for ideas, and also browse the graphics database over at http://www.ubbdev.com for some great graphics to better customize your board.

You might even be able to convince someone here or over at UBBDev to help come up with some color enhancements for your UBB.

I definitely think for an outdoors type site you should have some kind of outdoors type color theme.

I'd also consider setting up a navigation panel either across the top or along the left side so users can easily navigate the rest of your site outside the UBB.

Thanks for the UBB resource! I am indeed working on redesigning my entire site, and would welcome some assistance on making my UBB better. Who over there at ubbdev would you suggest I talk to?

Just go to their forums and look for the Graphics and Styles forum. Post a help request there. There are a couple of guys there that visit regularly and help people out, especially with custom graphics.
