A little over a year ago, I created a message board for our small association, creating a number of forums of information for our members. Its been fairly popular for getting information, but members rarely post anything. I am now leaving my association for another organization after nine years of being with the association and the head of my organization wants to dump the message board.

Anyone have ideas on good arguments for keeping the message board to a skeptical boss?

Thanks!

Well, what is the main point of your boss' skepticism?

And I'm a little unclear on your post. You're leaving one organization and going to a new one. Is it the old organization that wants to dump their message board, or is it the new organization wants to dump the board they have?

Its for the current organization I am leaving. Started the message board as a better way of sharing information with members (mix of short shelf life and longer shelf life info), sorting that information, and seeking interaction with them posting information.

Boss likes everything in e-mail -blackberry nut. He found the message board too complicated. Even though many of our members liked it.

The best way to counter his skepticism is to identify his cons of the message board and refute each one of them. If he thinks its too difficult, try to route out specifically what he finds difficult. Him just whining "it's too hard" is a sign of someone either with a hidden agenda or someone who just doesn't like to try new things.

Can you PM the url for your discussion forum? Its hard give suggestions if we don't know what the purpose of the forum is.

Also, why are you concerned about the fate of the discussion forums if you are leaving the organization?
