*bump*
I feel it's time to revisit this issue. Has anyone here succeeded in having their 6.x UBB crawled and indexed by any of the major engines such as Altavista or Google? It seems like dynamic pages are still ignored, for the most part, by the SE. Any case histories greatly appreciated. I know that pre 6.x UBBs were WELL indexed, as the topics were generated as static HTML. These static files were very yummy for the SE spiders. As I previously mentioned, it's of great importance to our site, since we serve a niche market (blues music) and are doing quite well as far as forum content goes. |

You are correct! Google skips my UBB 6.3 pages! This sucks and UBB needs to correct it.

Old topic, but you can get search engines (like google) to index your entire forums using Apache's mod re_write module and making a few modifictions to the UBB files.

I've put together a PHP script that turns your UBB 6.x forums into .html. That way, all the spiders get all of your threads.
The script was just implemented at these boards: http://www.iscid.org/boards The page for the script is here: http://www.totalwebpackage.com/ubb-spider-hack.html |
