The beta cluster is about to be updated with the 2.1.2 release. This release fixes a couple of problems and adds the news content island.

Full details:

Added some code to work around a recently report bug with Microsoft IE.

Changed the handling of forum topic lists. The changes are aimed at reducing the frequency and duration of incorrect topic lists (e.g. on some sites new topics may not appear on the forum topic list page for 10 minutes or more).

Changed the way image URLs are handled so that we always use absolute, rather than relative, image URLs. This will fix a problem when using content islands and will allow a few more features when using emails (like anchor tags on digests…)

Modified the OneCommunity client implementation so that it does a server check and member profile details update on each ACTION=LOGIN request (in case user details change during a visit).

Added a news page content island. This content island allows you to feature full message bodies on a static HTML page.

Good news !

Incidentally, what was the IE bug reported? IUs is anything to do with forum displays going a bit messed up?

I managed to play around with the new features in the past 2 days, and I think you guys have done a fantastic upgrade.

It takes a little while getting used to these display 'sets', but when you do, you really start to understand how far Infopop has taken this upgrade.

For example, on the message page, the profile and email icon is now placed just below the member name, and the quote and edit is placed to the left of the message header.

That is very intuitive thinking, guys.

Also appreciate that images are absolute now rather than relative. Helps in designing, without getting your proportions screwed up. Particularly if I want a pandora horizontal stretch across the page with my title image.

Many thanks. Its coming to 1 1/2 years now since you guys first launched OpenTopic, and its just absolutely amazing the progress you've made from the original version.

'Webmaster' first 'registered' on Oct 20 Oct 2000 on my OpenTopic forum.

I think OpenTopic opened about 1-2 months back. But whose counting doubli, this is probably the best outsourced solution that any webmaster can subscribe to.

No capex to worry about. No worries about obselescence. And when I open my site up to the masses ahahhahahhaha... its going to be a fixed $299 now, unless I go Enterprise, but hey when I need that, I've made it man.

Initially, I was concerned about traffic issue, particularly when I revert to free, rather than registered, browsing. But I think Rosemary and the gang has kinda figured it out.

And yea, doubli's been around OpenTopic like forever wink

Wow, you guys are too kind.

I'm not going to mention the IE flaw. It's posted on the sites that track these things.

The display sets (under the bonnet, they are the old xface options on steroids) were one of the major coding change in 2.1 (Brian sweated blood on those guys).

Doubli was definitely one of the first customers we had. Hope we can keep repaying that early adopter loyalty!
