The /4 Maya OpenTopic clsuter will move to new equipment in a new data center:
Tuesday April 22nd at 8 PM Pacific time [This is 11 PM Eastern time or 3 AM GMT Wednesday the 23rd] This move only affects OpenTopic sites with /4 in the URL The full transition maintenance requires an 8 hour window though we expect the actual service downtime to be much less. Users will see a maintenance message during this time. For those with a xxxxx.atinfopop.com domain address, nothing more needs to be done and all pages requests will be redirected automatically. If you use your own domain e.g. forums.mydomain.com, you will need to change your DNS configuration to co-incide with the move. The new A record should be updated as close as possible to beginning of maintenance. Your DNS file will need to look something like this: boards.mysite.com. IN A 63.251.4.71 boards.mysite.com. IN A 63.251.4.72 Kate Sloan of Infopop will be contacting site admins directly with detailed information and will confirm admins have scheduled the changes. All message data and member information is backed up and will be moved completely to the new location. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this maintenance may cause your community. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly. Michael Farris Infopop Product Evangelist |

Question: Upon changeover to new datacenter, will registered users' cookies no longer be valid -- so messages they've read will no longer be marked? Since the move is happening in the late evening, I was considering not even posting a message about the downtime. Anything else the average user would notice when the change is made?

The users likely will need to login again and their last visit time will be reset based on their last login. It's doubtful users will notice anything different, I think. At least that's the way we want it to be
The move is underway now and is going well. Michael Farris Infopop Product Evangelist |

Our site on /4 Maya just went down again: http://sciwire.com. It has been out since 10 am. Thanks.

Hello Wisey
Engineers are on it. The outage isn't directly related to the move but of course anything that happens in the hours right after a move makes us double any of the move related items. All in all the move went well. Hats off to the OPs team and DBA who traded in sleep for a good data transfer! Michael Farris Infopop Product Evangelist |

It has been on and off occasionally. Now it is off line since about 6:30 pm.
