We have decided to reschedule the OpenTopicâ„¢ code update originally scheduled for Friday September 13 at 8:00 Pacific time. We've had good performance with 2.3 but have found a couple of areas that could be improved. Rather than make these changes as early code patches, we decided to perform the update next weekend.
The upgrade will now take place in one week: Friday, September 20th beginning at 8:00 PM Pacific time. We apologize for any disruption this rescheduling will cause.
We still estimate between 4 and 8 hours of service unavailability and have reserved a 12 hours window for the task. This new code base involves a large reorganization of database tables and will require a more lengthy downtime than usual for an upgrade.
Well, I'm going to be doing it and no-one has told me otherwise! So, yes.
Over the last week we've been monitoring performance over on our large beta sites. We've found and fixed a couple of annoyances and there aren't any significant problems outstanding that I'm aware of.
In fact, we've even started coding some features for a 2.4 release...
