We will be moving the /0 Egypt beta/development cluster to a new data center Sunday April 6th at 5:00 PM [This is 8:00 EST or 1:00 AM GMT on the 7th] Because this requires the physical moving of some equipment a few kilometers there will be a downtime of 2-4 hours during which service will not be available.

This move does *not* affect regular production clusters.

Will you let you community know to expect this maintenance window? I will be in touch with the handful of you who will need to propagate DNS changes.

Please note: Only Infopop beta testing communities and any development sites run by OpenTopic enterprise customers will be moved on this date. Only those sites with /0 in the URL are involved in this maintenance.

In the new location the OpenTopic cluster will run on the same machines and in the same configuration so we do not expect difficulties.

We (arstechnica.infopop.net) seem to be having some problems after the recent migration.

New users signing up are seeing this error:
There was a problem sending an email. Please check the details. If this problem persists please contact the site administrators. The message detail is: 'Sending failed;
nested exception is:
javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: mail.infopop.net, port: 25;
nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: connection to mail.infopop.net timed out'


There also seems to be issues editing threads. If I click on the 'Edit or Delete message' icon I get an Access Denied message box.

I've also had reports of errors while replying, but I haven't been able to recreate it.

I see issues with using the main reply window, specifically when quoting a post, but not with the quick reply.

it brings up a service is down message, going back clears all my typing from the window

Thanks Barry. Any word about the problems people are having posting? It seems to happen only with the advanced UI.
