Hi all. We've been experiencing some lovely Oracle bugs that hit once every couple of months or so.

Oracle reports these are addressed in the latest service patch, so we will be applying it to the Egypt (beta) cluster on Saturday night.

Our DBA estimates there will be at least 2 hours downtime to get it installed.

We'll likely install the patch on our other clusters next weekend (though there may be a smaller upgrade time required for those).

ouch.

I hope you announce that on ars in it's own thread...

perhaps get the news guys to make an announcement on the main site.
remember, the site has worldwide users. night time is never on the internet
