Please be sure to follow the news at http://community.infopop.net/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=729094322&f=8583058234&m=8493036007 concerning a planned move to a new data center for most OpenTopic accounts.

Transitions will begin as early as March 8th.

There will be scheduled downtime associated with the move and we will be in contact with all OpenTopic customers to provide a more detailed schedule.

Our DBA's are going though models now and we'll have a better estimate well before the move. Don't worry -- we *will* be in touch with every customer well before things begin to give a more specific estimate.

Do you care to share any of the goals of the move? Like why and what you hope to gain?

We're always looking for the best value in co-location service and, believe it or not, it has been 3 years since we first moved into the Exodus complex in Tukwila just south of Seattle. It's been 2 years since we began hosting with Divine in the Bay area. The landscape of the data center market has changed considerably and for the most part for the better when it comes to costs and bandwidth.

The Ops teams has done several months of research and recommends this new center. One definite plus is that it is minutes from our office, meaning the systems teams can be far more 'hands on'.

There will be new equipment and of course Moore's Law is very kind to technology companies!! One benefit I'm looking forward to is expanded redundancy and failover capacity.

All in all, we're very pleased with this new center and believe it will be a winning move for Infopop and customers alike.
