We have scheduled the time for moving the /2 Shang amd /3 Zhou clusters
to the new data center:

Saturday March 8th at 6 PM Pacific time

[This is 9 PM Eastern time or 2 AM GMT Sunday]

We will reserve a 2 hour window for this maintenance but expect the move to
take less time than this. During this time OpenTopicâ„¢ service will be
unavailable and your users will see a temporary error message. Please let
your community know about this scheduled downtime.

For those with a xxxxx.infopop.net domain address nothing more needs to be
done and all pages requests will be redirected automatically.

If you use your own domain e.g. forums.mydomain.com, you will need to
change your DNS configuration to co-incide with the move. Kate Sloan of
Infopop will be contacting you directly with detailed information on how to
do this.

All message data and member information is backed up and will be moved
completely to the new location.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this maintenance may cause
your community. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to
contact me directly.

What about boards that are on the /0 cluster? Will that come at a later date?

Thanks,

I just tried to visit the board this afternoon, and have been getting a "Not Found" error. Is the /0 cluster moving early, or is there some problem?

We had some problems this afternoon unrelated to the move. That's why you got the intermitent 404 errors. We wouldn't change up the move date 'out of the blue' like that !!

I'm assuming this is affecting community.infopop.net. If it is, you might want to put a note in the Infopop General News area so that users here will be aware since not everyone checks the OpenTopic forums Wink

Good idea. We'll put putting out a FAQ for anyone doing last minute checking for instrauctions and that;s a great place to put it.

PS -- You're right that community.infopop.net will be affected. In fact this site is running partially in the new location right now -- and running well. We are our own guinea pigs for the transition.
