Hi,
I have a problem on our board with an AOL member But does the following mean these two posters are the same person: by Knots Insider on 06-15-03 at 10:35 PM from IP 152.163.253.66 Re: Knots Insider Edit by ChrisSumnerMatheson on 06-16-03 at 08:04 AM from IP 152.163.253.66 Also is there a function on the board that allows me to filter members by ip address? |

While it is possible that the two are somehow behind the same proxy server (i.e. school or work) or use the same ISP, I would strongly suspect they are the same person.

Same here, the chances of having the same AOL IP are very rare!
Now if you really want to see something thats messed up, try banning someone on satellite interner access! I got about 50 members on my forum all using the same IP address since they are all on the same sub cluster at the headend. |

If I where you, I would simply moderate all of this users posts. It gives you a little more control over the siutation because technically you didn't ban them, but you can approve all their posts before they appear on the board.
Also, I found this helps stop the cat and mouse game with the user simply registering another username. |

Thanks for the reply. Its one of those tricky situations, one of those people is pretending to be a 'celebrity' and people have fallen for it. The other person is a long time member on the forum. Its one of those wonderful situations that would create a huge riot if outted so I wanted to make sure my facts were 100%
