I can get the page number displayed on the bottom of the forum listing (Page: 1 2), but I would also like it included at the top of the page too.

How is this done - a stylesheet or is it an additional switch in conjunction with 'use_topic_page_numbers_on_topic_list' that I can turn on in "Custom Infopop XML" section of the Admin Control Panel?

Or will this be taken care of by 'default' in 2.0.6?

TIA.

I think that this should be taken care of now - do you have custom stylesheets? We did some very nice, minimalistic pagination a couple of releases ago, so you should have it.

I think that now the question is this: "Do you have custom stylesheets?" Let me know!

It works now, thanks to the 2.0.6 upgrade. And no, I wasn't using custom stylesheets.

Thanks.

put in place the:

quote:
alt_header_style="ot"

in XFace options, using the new 'Infopop Default' theme.

Is that acting as normal or is it a bug with the interaction of the 2.0.6 code and the 'old' header layout?

The new default layout just doesn't work for my site, if I have to workaround this, where do I start?

Thanks again.

Is it not working on all your pages or just a few? Try making a new post and see if that carries the correct header.

I only have a couple of forums with a significant number of messages (100+) and on those I don't see the page numbers at the top - only on the bottom as in 1.5.16.

Someone posted a new message in one of them just a moment ago and still no change.

Let me know, thanks.

To answer your question, No, there is no toggle, that will make the page numbers show up on the top of the forum page. It isnt in the XSL Style Sheets. I looked.

If you wish to add the page numbers to the top, you will have to customize your XSL.

This is something not to take lightely because every time we (Infopop) release up to date style sheets, the ones you modified will not be updated, you will have to make the change again on any future style sheets we release.

And that is also only an option if you are a Professional or Enterprise OpenTopicâ„¢ customer.

Keep me posted on what you want to do. I will try and help you where I can.

So what you are saying is with

quote:
alt_header_style="ot"

turned on - I lose the ability to have the page numbers display on top in each forum when using the new 'Infopop Default' theme?

I guess I'll have to live with that since I can't customize the XSL mad

Sorry - yes, that is the case. When I use the ot_header switch then the page numbering is only on the bottom and the 'new posts' link appears in the place of the paganation.

OK. This one has gone around a bit...

The 'old' OpenTopic default UI did not have the forum page numbering at the top, so the switch does not put it there either.

The new default UI (with no special switches) does display the page numbering.

Why the difference? Well, first off its always nice to have choices!

The other thing is one of usability: how often do people need to get to page 2 of the forum topic listing? We've assessed as a low usage item (compared to moving around pages within a topic).

Therefore, we've we don't display these page numbers in the prominent top of page position - trying to keep that area as simple and as clean as we can.

Now that is not to say we couldn't add an option to put it back there, just to let you know why it is like it is.

Hope that helps some. Please you (and anyone else who cares about it) let us know if you'd still like an option to have the page numbers there.

I would definitely like an optional parameter to pass so I can see the page numbers on top and bottom.

When visiting any forum on a regular basis whether to read new or older topics and especially for new visitors or 'lurkers' it's a real pain to have to scroll down the page.

So I vote for a parameter, so the Admin can include the option if he/she so wishes big grin
