We don't want to remove the functionality of adding signatures to posts but some people just don't want to see them. Is there a way for you to add a way for a user to select not to see signatures?

and avatars.

think of the dialup users who could benefit from not having a sig or avatar loading everytime.

No, not currently. Signatures are part of the message and there is no way of shielding part of the message from the user.

However, I have suggested that signatures be removed from the message and stored in an external field. If this is done, then what you desire could be implemented.
