FYI...

I've noticed both at my site and here....that any Infopop hosted site images are taking quite a while to load and in turn, make the forums appear to be extremely slow, when either reading them or posting a message (basically, anywhere that the images are included on the page).

First noticed this on Friday afternoon...but it is slowly getting worse when loading the image files (house, breadcrumbs, city, etc, etc).

Hi David -- I'm not noticing it right now. Still happening ?

You are meaning things like the new topic and reply buttons? Or do you mean custom images in webspace ?

I have an unanswered post from a few hours ago which mentions an incredible speed decrease on the aztec server.

Yes, Michael...it's actually gotten worse throughout the day...just bringing up this site to posting+editing/admin...takes up to a good 90 secs - with the graphics being what I'm waiting on...the text portion is there on the page...but no graphics...until later!

Yes...every Infopop hosted graphic type there is, from breadcrumbs...to the CP link graphics, avatars...the whole shabang!!

I know it's not my connectivity...as I get less than 40ms ping times and traceroute's with less than 15 hops.

I opened a ticket on this....this morning...but haven't seen any real improvement...so it's still open... 1058198035-R679E

It's only slightly improved this morning...and still slowing down the presentation of the forums. I host my own avatars and other graphics and they are loading fine...it's the Infopop hosted images that are slow in loading.

The text displays fine but the pages are bogged down because of the slow loading of the images...they do load...but only after...anywhere from 20 to 90 seconds...depending on what you are doing...the slowest part is when you're posting or editing a message as the smilies (emoticons) are being loaded up in the background.

A good example is here...my avatar is hosted at my site and I see it straight away after posting/editing...but no other graphics for anywhere from 20-90 seconds.

These are the directories I see it trying to load the majority of the images from:

community.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/
community.infopop.net/infopop/icons1/
community.infopop.net/infopop/images3/
community.infopop.net/infopop/images3/misc3/

FYI - it's cleared up now! A web server required a restart.

Actually it is not as simple as "A web server required a restart." There were a few minor issues on the backend here that alone would cause no problems, but together created a problem that took slighly longer than usual to diagnose.

In any case the problem is now solved. Thank you for your patience.
