i was wondering if there is any feature that we can enable that has a pop-up message or something similar when you have been invited or requested to comment on a private topic?

the application currently doesn't have this functionality. email notifications are automatically sent out when you're invited to a private topic, but that's the extent of the notifications...

we're always interested in these kinds of ideas though - if there were to be something like this, how do you picture it working? what would be the ideal situation?

Hello there, right back at ya' babe

I am also a member of DBSTalk.com and they use vbulletin. Whenever you log in or refresh the page, you have a small pop-up window that comes up on the screen saying you have a new private message. You must close it out before you can do anything else. Is this the explanation you wanted?

Yes -- that's definitely something in the works. We're thinking about a system that will poll your My Space every few minutes for anything new and then turn on a signal on the pages as you visit. No popups though

Good Michael. This feature is definitely needed but you've got the right idea of how to implement it - without popups!
