Ok a cpl of points some of my users have raised...firstly they dig the general grooviness of the new UI, some have complained about the size of the text in the reply windows.....and the general consensus is that we miss having a subject line when replying.....any reason why it has disappeared?

I think all the images can be changed - go to style settings, then edit your current style, click on the 3.x images tab and specify new URLS for your images.

But how do we see what the available options for the images are?
I've poked around and can't find them? My only real complaint is that the 3.0 UI is not very intuitive. Robert 323i.net The Forums@323i.net |

Thanks All
We made a decision to remove the Subject line of replies in part to be consistent with the practice in our other products. In a nutshell -- the subject is the subject of the topic in whihc you reply and changing it midstream may derail the discussion. If you wish to change the city/house icons for the breakcrumb to more traditional folder/files you can change the misc directory for /infopop/images3/misc to /infopop/images3/misc2 in the 3.x Image set. |

I take your point Michael, although it would have been better to have it as a toggleable option. We used to have a lot of fun with the subject line
Now for a few administrator comments. The drop down menus are neat, but it would be nice if we could add to them, i.e provide additional links, for example I'd like a link in the admin dropdown menu to these forums |

Like to add my general congratulations on the v3 user interface and improved functionality.
Some of the new navigation methods are too cryptic IMHO -- the old Hop-to menu box was visible to everyone new to the old forum, but the replacement in v3 -- clicking on the House icon -- is not intuitive. I've used the Feature Topic facility (nice) to explain to user in our Forum Help section how to jump about, but I think a more obvious navigation option would have been prefereble, although I do personally enjoy the cleaner look-and-feel of the screen. One point: our site caters to musicians, and a few Mac users who have switched to OSX have informed me that none of the OT v3 tab/menu pop-ups work at all in the newest Apple Safari browser (their attempt at stopping IE global domination). I have no means of checking this, but it might be worth Infopop's while to investigate this problem. Keep up the good work. Ian G. http://www.sound-on-sound.com |

Thanks Ian!
I'm glad the general impression is good. I agree the the current breadcrumb system is not as obvious as the classic dropdown. We're going to work on maming of of this more intuitive and more powerful and I hope someday the system will be as instinctive as the windows 'right click'for properties. Re Mac Safari -- We had a report from one of our moderators that Safari was fine in the new UI but we'll investigate. The new UI requires pretty basic DOM whihc I would expect Apple to have followed. It was disheartening a bit to hear they based off of Konqueror rather than Mozilla. I know from earlier work that older Konqueror versions had simply dreadful DOM support. We'll get this downloaded to the office Mac today for testing... |

Hmmmm. A very fine idea. That 'globe' icon has room for some additions. Specific suggestions ? |

Quick suggestion for the menus:
How about having a facility to show Favourite Forums (fora?) within this menu -- I currently have the problem forums saved as Faves in IEexplore but I log into our own forum when abroad on business or in friends' homes, where my saved Favourtes does not exist. Thus it'd be v.nice to save at least a few of them to appear at the top (say) of the Admin tab/menu (and same possibly for punters Top 5 places within a community? Ian G. |

I figured I would just bring this back to the top instead of starting an entirely new thread.
Even though the interface is generally better liked than the other there is something that I would like to see fixed. When using the functions on a new or reply to screen, the cursor goes to the top of the text in the box instead of immediately after what was just entered. Can you get this annoying bug fixed please? |
