The new Google Adsense program presents us with a wonderful opportuntity to generate extra revenue from our site but from what I understand the Googlebot cannot spider OpenTopic forums by default?
Please tell me how I can turn spidering on as it's too good an opportunity to turn down |

Unfortunately, this can't be turned on, as it's a Google thing, not an OpenTopic thing.
As I understand it, Google, and most search engines for that matter, don't spider dynamic content - of which category the OpenTopic messageboard does fit into. Kate Sloan Customer Care/Account Management Infopop Corporation Moderator: Community Management Forum |

Thanks for your reply Kate. Is there any workaround at all for this? It's a bit disappointing to think there's no way of participating in the Google program, especially considering that there's not a single other website in our category so rich in content as ours.

The only page that could be hit by a spider is the categories and forums page. Smart spiders skip dynamic content by looking at the URL in the link and ensuring that there are no parameters in it. no ?yy=xx info in the URL. If there are it bails.
So the Categories and forums page can be gotten to by a spider when it follows a link to the base page that is formatted like so: http://community.infopop.net/6/ubb.x Though I will add a disclaimer. This is my understanding, and I could be so completely wrong that its rediculous. I by no means am an expert, or even well informed. *grin* Jonmark Weber Technology Group Infopop Corporation |

I can confirm the Google spider produces results that point just to my Categories and Forums page
