Anyone know how I'll be able to avoid having my members sign in twice, if OT is already behind a secure portion of my site? I'm real new at all of this, and I can't picture how it will work. Any ideas?

This a great question! Right now, its impossible to run UBB in a password protected directory without forcing all users to repeatedly enter their user info. Its a crazy system that is a serious negative for the UBB program. Why isn't there a way to completely turn off all registration sign-in features when this is the case?
