I set up a moderators forum and assigned permissions to my power group. Is there a way to hide the forum so only moderators can see it? I logged on under my non-admin member name and could see the forum but it did not give me permission to access it....that's good....it's working. Only my mods can access it. However, I would like to hide it so regular members can not see it, only my power users. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Sure we can. We just wanted to be sure that you got the correct answer. What is true for eve may not be true for OpenTopic.
Eve doesn't allow you to hide a forum for one group but show it for another. If you make a forum hidden it is hidden for everyone. That may not necessarily be a bad thing, you can have all of the power users bookmark it.
Thing about hiding a forum though, is that eventually word gets out. A mod mentions the secret mod forum via a slip of the tongue, or maybe one gets demoted at some point in time. One way or the other, eventually even though the forum is hidden the users find out about it.
My advice is to leave it visible, and explain what it is in the description. Most forum users expect there to be a place for moderators to discuss things in private so it shouldn't create a stir at all.
Thank you for the reply. I noticed that even this forum shows the visable moderator's corner. Thanks again! One final question, can I change the error text that displays when an unauthorized user tries to access the mod section? I assume not.
In your control panel, under eve > Display > Settings > Wordlets. Click edit then use the handy search and you can edit any of the wording on your community.
