I'd be interested in using this program

1) If the cost were at or under $30 per month or otherwise I'll stay with the ubb's

2) If can display my advertisers banners with a program like webadverts...

3) If open topic has a 95+ percent up time..

4) If I can easily configure it to link to my other pages...

5) If I can upgrade ot versions easily and economically

I don't think OT is to big a match either

I'm having serious doubts about OT.. not even enough support to get basic answers to basic questions such as mine from the owners/admins.. How much more of an issue to get support if you are paying for their hosting service which is a big one..

Now let me say that UBB has helped me tremendous amount but OT as a hosted bb only seem to be dead in the water before it even got started...

They will give you answers when they're ready to provide information about the product.

Right now, OT is available for testing, but it is not really a public beta.

Infopop will release the information about the product when the product is ready for release.

vBulletin is a php based BB, using a mySQL database (other databases wil probably be supported in the future)

It has at least all the functions of UBB, and a lot more on top of that.

It rules

plus, it's not a hosted solution, like OT

Where can one find more info on vBulletin?

I'm using ubb now, and am contemplating upgrading to OT, but would like to know all possible options. A board with mysql backend sounds nice.

By the way Menno.... we don't care. Advertise your little product elsewhere. There are proper places, so stop hyping something that is non-existant, both here and on UBB.

I'm willing to bet this is another one of the many many times I've seen "This is gonna be the best and be better than all the others" wanna-be, only to see a piece of junk or something that never gets completed.

Mark no offence but Mennos board looks alot better then this open topic stuff. You don't need to be attacking him or her all because you like this board. I don't realy like Open Topic and I am sure whatever Menno has is alot better then this junk. If you want to go around and start attacking members then fine but don't start insulting them all because you think you think Open Topic is the greatest product in the world. I am not realy amazed at the product because I can take a ubb and hack it with all the features in it. Most off the stuff in this board looks like they were taken from ubb hacks. Also what I realy hate about open topic is that you can't add in code hacks to the source and add in your own features. That made the ubb very flexable and more easer to use. You don't see that hear. I think that is what made ubb so popular is its flexablity and ease of use. Also people could do anything they want to it once they got a liscence. With opentopic you only control a few things like the colors and the layout but that is about it. You can even do that with easyboard.

Of course don't take this personally I am just giving my opinion and trying to defend Menno.
