The ability to remove posting rights appears to apply across the board. However, I am considering giving a member posting rights but only in a specific category or forum. Is there any easy way within OpenTopic of doing this or am I going to have to rely on the honor system and monitor the member.

I would both monitor them and also create a unique security group for THEM and them alone. Put them into it and then you can assign read/post/reply rights to each forum that you choose to allow them to post or reply in.
Let me know if you need specific steps for that under OpenTopic. Regards, Brett Harris Infopop Corporation |

Brett,
Hmm, might need some assistance. The forums I want to restrict the poster to have hundreds of visitors. If I create a security group for this person to post....how do I allow the others to post if I have now set posting rights to "only those with security access" |

Consider moderating that user. It will Member to Specific Forum - Selective Posting Rights apply only to him or her. You can specify the forum this moderation applies to.
In the new eve platform you can remove specific rights from a suer that are granted to everyone else. Infopop Corporation |
