Hey everyone I am a new member and I have a few questions, if you would be kind enough to answer them:

1) I am interested in opening a philosophy forum. Basically, I want the people who join the forum (for free) to be able to post, and to be able to customize my own topics/folders and look of my forum (not in very specific terms; just color, names, order etc.) and nothing more.

2) I want the cheapest plan available (Pioneer) but I don't know what some stuff means. So on the webpage with th offered plans:

a)what does "web server access/features" mean?

b) What are "private web directories"?

c) Would 150 MB of disk space would be enough to accomodate let's say 40 members and their posts (around 30 posts per member). What is the size of a post of 150 words?

d) If I don't go to Godaddy.com to choose my own domain name but I do purchase a plan, where would my forum be publishized?

e) Are there any specific requirements after a purchase a plan? So for example, is it just that I purchase the plan, the structure of the forum comes ready, I customize my forum, and then I publish it? Is it that simple? Is there anything else?

I would appreciate it if someone could answer my very basic (and thus annoying to you) questions.

Thank you in advance. Have a beautiful day...

Hi manframed-

Thanks for your interest. Here are the answers to your questions:

1- Yes, you can do all of that.
2a- Web server acccess/features refers to having web space above and beyond your community for uploading other web pages/files, asd well as email accounts. In other words, the Pioneer plan, because it does not have this, does not include FTP access to your community and you have no other website features like email accounts. You cannot publish web pages outside of your community. You simply get the community. Based on what you described, you probably do not those other features (FTP access for publishing other web content and email).

2b. Private Web Directories are a feature of Groupee Community that allow you to protect any web directories you create using the Groupee Community permission system. In other words, you could have a website with certain areas restricted to certain users. Because Private Web Directories require that you have the ability to upload web files to your server, that feature is NOT available on the Pioneer plan (which does not include web server access).

2c. Yes, 150 MB of disk space should be plenty large enough for you, unless your group plans to upload lots of large image files. Smile

2d. If you are purchasing a new domain name, you can purchase from any domain registrar (GoDaddy is one, but there are many others, including Register.com and Network Solutions). Note that you do not have to purchase a new domain, you can simply create a subdomain off of our groupee.net system (as in, "yoursite.groupee.net"). The advantage with the latter is that you do not have to separately purchase a domain name and configure it for use. The disadvantage is that you will not own the subdomain so if you leave you cannot take the subdomain name with you (though you can take your content).

2e. Yes, it is that simple. After you purchase, you are emailed info about your community. You can them log into your community control panel and customize it to your requirements.

Take care,
