I know this may sound stupid, but I still haven't upgraded my discussion board with the new upgrade from last year. We have a simple site with not much added design, but we have tons of traffic I do not want disrupted. Can anyone tell me of any problems they encountered so I can troubleshoot in advance?

Which board/version are you using and how old is it?

It says 3.0.7 but it's the template I have not updated. The discussion board is approximate 1.5 years old if that helps.

3.0.7, I'm guessing you are a UBB.x or OpenTopic.

If that is the case, then you are upgraded automatically without any intervention. If you are talking about switching to the new templates, you are actually using a demo of the new UBB.x/OpenTopic tempates introduced in 3.0

Okay, I just updated the template and sure enough there are some design flaws.

There is a ton of white space in the upper and upper right quadrants of the page, largely because the area for the Title image takes up a ton of space. I could really use that area for my banner ads, but instead my current ad must be squashed. Also, the Title image in the footer is off-center (left alignment) and it looks weird.

I fixed the design flaws using all HTML. I hope you guys will make that a bit more design friendly next time.

Now the big complaint is the pop-up windows for posting. Since many people have a pop-up blocker, this causes a problem. Can I get rid of the pop-ups?

Unfortunately, that is part of the new design. One option for them would be to whitelist forum.cinchouse.com from their popup blocker.
