give yourself some time, WBA. It'll probably grow on ya.

IMO, tell DH to shove it. It's not his hair.

You inspired me. I went searching on the web and I think I'm going to try this:

I'm not sure how my curl will work with that though. Although it is less curly if I don't use the diffuser.

He just needs some adjustment time, too.

Think of all the money you'll save on hair care products! And the time in styling/drying, etc.

WBA don't be miserable!

I bet your hair looks great! Give it a day or two and the shock of its shortness will wear off.

Tell your hubby to switch places with you and let us talk to him for a while--

I know who'd be crying then!

Thanks WBA!

I know how you feel. I decided to cut my long hair and have my first perm when I was pregnant with my first child... BAD IDEA!

I seriously looked like an electrocuted Bozo.

My husband came home (I didn't get to warn him) and could not stop laughing... and laughing... and laughing.

I still remember that feeling to this day, and I'll never let my husband forget it either! Big Grin

Definitely!

Hang in there... I've got to hit the hay (got an early dr.'s appt tomorrow). I'm such a night owl I'll probably just stare at the ceiling until sunrise!

Post some pics tomorrow and let us know how great it feels to have short hair!

Goodnight...

Your husband is probably jealous that so many other guys are going to be checking you out now. Wink

My hair almost to the top of my shoulders, which is the longest it has been in about 5 years. I'm dying to do something with it.

i'm sure it looks amazing! men are like that about long hair.

my husband always begs me not to cut my hair when he hears i have an appt with my stylist... (my hair is around shoulder length and i always keep it around there)

but when i return, he is always thrilled with how it turned out Smile it just takes them time to adjust to change. he was probably just shocked because of the huge difference... i'm 100% sure he will grow to really love it Smile

You are a brave woman, Leanne. The Locks of Love are very lucky.

D will get over it, its still long.

I do need a trim, but I'm so fearful of hair stylists right now. My favourite moved to Yellow Knife two years ago and I haven't had it trimed since. The split ends are completely out of control.

Be careful what you wish for...it might just come true.

It has been my experience that some men are just not good about change. My husband's that way about the stuff I do with the house, and he always gets nervous when he hears me say "I'm gonna paint that _________." After all these years you'd think he'd have more faith!

He usually ends up liking what I've done when it's done, but getting there is like the Spanish Inquisition. "What color are you going to paint it?" means "Whatever color you pick I know I will hate."

Then, when friends come over and rave about how great the room looks he puffs out his chest and gets all proud and says "Yeah, she did a really great job." Roll Eyes So I've pretty much learned to ignore his initial reactions and forge ahead with what I want to do, anyway.

However, this doesn't extend my hair. I have gone from past-the-shoulders-long to a short bob and he didn't even notice. (I have no problem with radical changes when it comes to my hair!) I have to admit that I found it disturbing that he didn't notice my hair...it suggested that he never really looks at me. (When confronted about it he said that he did notice and thought it looked great. Apparently he's the type who only comments if he DOESN'T like something... Roll Eyes) Fortunately, he has other redeeming qualities.

Now that my hair is long again (just above the shoulder blades), I've noticed that one aspect of long hair that I like is that I can just put it up with a hair clip, or in a ponytail when I don't want to fuss with it. I like low-maintenance anything. On the other hand, when I wore it down, it just sort of hung there, and didn't really have much of a "style". One day I realized that with no makeup and long straight hair around my face, I looked like an escaped mental patient. As I grow older, I'm finding mirrors are not as friendly as they once were...

My hair stylist recommended some thin bangs, and that kept me from chopping it all off. She also trimmed the sides a bit so that it frames my face with a softer line. Now I like my hair again, though I still have issues with my mirror.

So I guess the point is that sometimes even a small change can make a huge, positive difference. And the great thing about any change is that you get a new perspective on things, even if it's just a different look from what you've always had.

Aww WBA. I'm sure you look beautiful. Don't let him get you down.

Years ago I got my hair cut really REALLY short. They used a #4 clipper blade on my entire head. I asked my husband if it looked too butch. He said no, but you look like a monkey.

WBA- I'm sorry he wasn't supportive. I bet it looks great and so much healthier.

MM- that is funny. Not so nice of him, but funny now. Big Grin

I'm getting my haircut in a little while. I am tempted to do something different now.

WBA - I'm sure your hair looks gorgeous. A lot of men have a "thing" about long hair...I don't get it. Maybe it's an instinctual thing, dating back to the cavemen bonking their women over the head and dragging them into the cave by their hair Big Grin

I'm not too fussy about my hair and keep changing the style (and color!) - I had it pretty short for a lot of years, and then a few years ago decided I wanted a softer look to go with my softer body and started to grow it out. Now it looks like the link M2B posted at the top of this page. Last night I came home from work and my hair was in a ponytail. Mr. Brook said "I like your hair up like that because I can see your face. I think that's why I liked your hair when it was short - because I could see more of your face." Aw - isn't he cute?
