You wanted to know what people thought about the Netherlands. The only time I've visited your country was two years ago for Halloween weekend. I went to Amsterdam with a friend (we were studying abroad in Europe at the time), but did not get the nicest picture of the city. Besides the fact that it rained the entire weekend (although I should be used to that being from Seattle), three guys attempted to mug us in the middle of a Saturday afternoon! Luckily we didn't have any cash and our credit cards, etc. were tucked away in our money belts, so they were unsuccessful, but it was very scary! I will say that I really enjoyed the delicious pancakes we ate near the Heineken Brewery. I would go back for those!!

I went to holland once, when i was 15 with a football team for a footie tournament weekend. Absolutely amazing - in every bar, we got served, so easily. I was never so ill in my entire life, but it was worth it o:

Hmmm... Judging from the latest episode of the infamous Highway Patrol series, a Dutch vision of the States would consist of 'Hookers and Pot', mostly...

Our bars serve alcohol to people from the age of 16 (they don't always check your age, so if you look like 16, you're in). That also goes for cigarettes, but a cigarette-machine doesn't check your age. Marihuana is being sold to people over 18 (you can't smoke it in public places except for coffeshops ofcourse).
I'm used to all this and what seems really disappointing to me, is going out in Britain. Don't pubs close at 11 PM there? So I guess everybody rushes trough dinner and runs to the pub. What do you do after eleven? Go home and sleep? When we go out, it's early to start at eleven. In the village where my parents live (and I in the weekend) the bars close at 2 AM. In Utrecht I usually get home at about 6 AM (you don't wanna get up for work or college 2 hours later, believe me...uuugghh).
What is it like to go out in Britain? And how about the US?
