I was thinking today, and I thought a good newsletter module for eve would be a great addition. First, newsletters are community-driven. The members of your site would likely benefit from a newsletter.

Yes, I know you can send mass emails already, and that is a good start. But something a little more in-depth would be ideal. A seperate newsletter module that would allow you to create multiple mailing lists if you wanted, and multiple newsletters. And for newsletter creation, a basic WYSIWYG editor for creating them would be a bonus as well

This would also allow for better statistics for the newsletters/lists if they were in a seperate module, and site admins could target their emails more effectively. It would also be good to assign "authors" for these newsletters via eve permissions. So say I had 3 different newsletters for my site, I could assign an author for each one, and they have the ability to create, manage, and utilize their own newsletter.

I use some Interspire software already, but they offer a product that does most of these features, if you want to see what I'm talking about.

I don't know, just brainstorming. I just know I could spark a lot of interest and announce new features, and even give possibly another reason to become a premium subscirber if a module like this existed.

I know a couple of years ago Infopop purchased Buzzcast. I'm guessing they have future plans for Buzzcast, hopefully as an eve module

That was my initial thoughts, since buzzcast was put on hold a little over a year ago, which was before eve was released... so maybe it was anticipated to be a part of or an additional module down the road?

If you had a permission system set up with a basic editor, you could also give permission to the same newsletter and assign different portions of that newsletter to different contributors - sort of like an online magazine.

A news/article system would be great! I would love it if each news item had its own message or blog section. It would be great of news could be user submited or and RSS feed...

A Newsletter tool could be pretty cool. I dont think it would need or deserve being its own module, but something under tools in the Eve module could be pretty spiffy.

Buzzcast is, well, Buzzcast. I dont forsee us rolling Buzzcast into Eve. That is not to say that at some point we wont make a MassEmail Module or something like that to facilitate organizing, emailing and managing large email lists. But at the present momment I can say that I have heard nothing about it.

We use this for our 'Day in the Life' section of our website. The day in the life is its stand alone application, but it can create dynamic Links to the forums that will dynamically create a topic the first time someone decides to "Discuss" that day in the life. After that the rest of the discussions are added as replies to the original topic. Very cool and very useful.
